Almora is an ancient hill station situated at an elevation of 1646 miters in the Kumaun hills. Almora is situated on a 5 KM long horse saddle shaped ridge, very well known for its health giving climate. The Sashaya hill on which Almora is perched finds mention in Skandh Purana as heavenely abode of lord Vishnu. This idyllic hill station is bordered on three sides by Kumauni hill and its northern front provides a breathtaking view of Trishul peaks.
